What is the difference between an e-visa, a visa on arrival and a visa required in advance?
All three mean you cannot simply land and walk through immigration. A visa on arrival is issued at the border, usually for a fee, and an officer can still refuse it. An e-visa is applied for online and must be granted before you board your flight — airlines check for it at check-in. A visa required in advance means the same, arranged at an embassy or a visa centre rather than online. None of the three is visa-free, whatever the country's tourism board calls it.
