Will my Indian plug fit in Dubai, Thailand, Vietnam or Bali?
The problem
Indian three-pin plugs (type D or M) don’t fit the wall sockets in Dubai, Thailand, Vietnam or Bali.
The fix
Pack a universal travel adapter whose socket takes your Indian plug (many don’t take the big type M). Slide out type G pins for Dubai, type A or C for Thailand and Vietnam, and type C for Bali. All four run on 220 to 230 V, 50 Hz like India, so you need an adapter, not a voltage converter; still check your charger’s label.

- Electrical Safety First: India
India uses plug types C, D and M at 230 V, 50 Hz. Type D has three large round pins; type M is similar with much larger pins.
- Electrical Safety First: Dubai
The UAE uses type G (three rectangular blades) at 230 V, 50 Hz.
- Electrical Safety First: Thailand
Thailand uses types A, B, C and O at 230 V, 50 Hz. Type A has two flat parallel pins.
- Electrical Safety First: Vietnam
Vietnam uses types A, B and C at 220 V, 50 Hz. Type C has two round pins.
- Electrical Safety First: Indonesia (Bali)
Indonesia uses types C and F at 230 V, 50 Hz.
- Travel adapter instructions (manufacturer)
A slide-pin universal adapter works with type D but not type M, and it is not a voltage converter.
- Travel adapter quick setup guide (manufacturer)
How the pins slide out and lock, that only one plug set is live at a time, and that the adapter does not convert voltage.
- Universal travel adapter datasheet (manufacturer)
The adapter has a replaceable fuse, and the slider latches when the pins are fully out.
