Phuket welcomes Riu's first Thailand resort on Mai Khao Beach
Based on reporting by TTG Asia: Phuket gets its first all-inclusive Riu experience

RIU Hotels & Resorts has opened Hotel Riu Palace Phuket, its first property in Thailand. The five-star beachfront resort sits on Mai Khao Beach and introduces the brand's 24-hour all-inclusive concept to the island.
Under the all-inclusive model, meals, drinks and live entertainment are covered in one stay, with round-the-clock access to dining, beverages and resort amenities. The complex has more than 500 rooms built in several buildings of up to four floors, joined by covered walkways.
Guests can choose from six dining venues and seven bars, along with six swimming pools, a gym, steam bath, Renova Spa, a kids' club and the RiuFit sports programme. An Elite Club category of 49 rooms adds a private reception, personalised check-in, a dedicated restaurant and pool, premium branded drinks and other extras. The hotel is 16km from Phuket International Airport, next to Sirinat National Park and 40km from the historic city centre.
What it means for travellers from India
- An all-inclusive option in Phuket means food, drinks and entertainment are bundled into one stay, so there is less need to budget separately for meals and activities.
- The resort's position near Phuket International Airport could suit travellers who want a short transfer after a long flight.
- Families have a kids' club with daytime and evening activities, while those who want extra privacy can look at the Elite Club rooms or swim-up rooms.
