India's top 50 restaurants for 2026 ranked, Mumbai and Goa lead
Based on reporting by Condé Nast Traveller: The best restaurants in India, ranked 1–50

The seventh Condé Nast Traveller and District Top Restaurant Awards were held at The Grand Hyatt in Bambolim, Goa, and the list of India's 50 best restaurants for 2026 is now public. A jury of 105 members, including food critics, writers, chefs, artists and curators, voted in two rounds behind closed doors. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP acted as process advisors.
Mumbai and Goa are tied at the top, each with 13 restaurants among the fifty. Bengaluru has six, while Chennai and Kolkata have four each. New Delhi takes three, and Shillong has two. Kasauli, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Gurugram and Karaikudi each have one. Goa drawing level with Mumbai is a first, a sign of how much its dining scene has grown.
NAAR, a 16-seat restaurant near Darwa village in Himachal Pradesh run by chef Prateek Sadhu, took the number one spot. Its menus change with the Himalayas' seasons and are cooked over a juniper-smoked fire. Other featured spots include The Table in Mumbai, Papa's in Bandra, FarmLore near Bengaluru and Sienna in Kolkata.
What it means for travellers from India
- Some of these restaurants are small and book out quickly. Papa's in Mumbai seats only 12 people and its monthly seats are taken within a minute of release.
- A few offer off-menu experiences. At The Table in Mumbai, asking for a set of chef-selected courses in the early evening gets a tasting menu for tables of two to four, and Sienna in Kolkata has a solo diner's option to sample smaller portions.
- Some are outside big cities. NAAR is a lengthy drive from Chandigarh, and FarmLore sits at the edge of Bengaluru on farmland.
